The midi skirt emerged in the mid-20th century. Its style became more prevalent between the 1920s and 1930s, influenced by the Art Deco movement, gradually replacing the long skirts of the time.

The midi skirt gained significant popularity in the 1940s and 1950s, particularly with the introduction of Dior's iconic NEW LOOK in 1947. Throughout the 1970s, it maintained its appeal, aligning with bohemian and hippie movements.

Today, the midi skirt is recognized as an extremely versatile piece, easily adaptable to different aesthetics, from casual to formal. It remains a highly impactful element in fashion, and the forecast is that it will continue to be a prominent trend in the spring-summer season of 2024.
